Big orange sweater

Lara...finished

I actually finished this sweater in January and wore it a few times to my new job. It's the Debbie Bliss "Lara", knit up in Debbie Bliss angora/silk. I wish now I hadn't use that yarn because I hear that it pills like crazy and at least one knitter says her sweater now looks like a raggedy old sweater. I've only worn it two or three times and haven't washed it yet but I will try to take extra care knowing that the yarn pills. The sweater is very warm and comfy and fits pretty well (sorry, no live modeling). It was an interesting sweater to knit because it's done in one piece - you start from the cuff of one sleeve and work your way up the sleeve, across the back and front, and down the other sleeve. The downside is that you have a lot of knitting to carry around. All in all I'm pleased with it, so long as it doesn't pill itself into a raggedy old sweater.

Hawaii

Was it really three weeks ago? Seems like yesterday.

This was the view from our hotel balcony, or lanai as they call them in Hawaii. Paradise...

Oahu sunset

"Ocean Front" is definitely the way to go. Well, at least once in your life.

Cold ones on the balcony

We stayed in Waikiki.

But we rented a car so we could drive around the island. We saw some whales off of the coast.

Whale Tale

We drove to the North Shore and watched surfers in Waimea Bay. Dude...those were some impressive waves!

Big wave

We visited the Dole Plantation and toured the gardens. This is actually a very small pineapple.

And of course we relaxed. You can't see the Blue Hawaii drink I'm enjoying here. And note that I'm wearing Bonita, the tank top I knit.
